Do you want to hear a story?

In 2009 the concept of “Storytelling” came into my life anew through a course I attended, and that turned my understanding of what stories are and can do, upside down. I started to see the story of my own life in a new light and began to understand that stories are in everything, from our relationships to the sale of washing powder, from politics and raising children to our identity as humans, how we eat, talk, live, dress…

Stories create order

Stories are in fact the way in which our minds understand and try to create a sense of control of the world. There are too many complex factors for us to start over every time, so we arrange and rank (completely unconsciously) our experiences according to prefabricated templates, which we then make our own.

At the same time, stories are what connects us as people and make us able to understand each other and be empathetic – and is thereby a powerful tool to understand and create change in the world.

To me, it has almost become a sport to try and understand the basic aspects of the way we understand the world, such as metaphors, archetypes and archetypical trains of events (that, which in movies and novels are often referred to as the “plot”).

Storytelling with the archetypes

Especially the archetypes, the fundamental, inner sub-personalities we all contain, has fascinated me a lot in the last few years. Based on my research I have developed a test that shows which of the 12 most common archetypes are the most dominant in someone’s personality. You can take the test for free right here.

When you know your particular mix of archetypes, it is so much easier to understand yourself and communicate who you are to the rest of the world. The last part can be especially important if you have a small business and want to be seen and heard in the world.

Besides being interested in understanding the nature of stories, I also like to just tell – or listen – to a good story! Here on my website, you will find a variation of offers that – in spite of the many styles of expression – all come from exactly that: The desire to tell. And the desire to listen.

Since Danish is my native language, many of my stories have come to life in this way, so far. Both my books are in Danish, and so is all the material on my blog. But I am working toward posting in English as well… If you sign up for my English newsletter I will let you know directly.
